In Lapeer County, the 9-1-1 Center is funded operationally from a telephone surcharge. Currently we charge $1.55 per line per month as set forth by state law. 9-1-1 centers collect surcharge money from cellular phones, landline phones and VoIP phones. All of these types of phones pay an equal amount.
